Skin Cancer is a disease which malignant cells form in the tissue of your skin. Skin Cancer occurs when you’re exposed to an excessive amount of ultraviolet rays. Ultraviolet rays come from the sun but can also come from tanning beds as well. They’re different types of skin cancer. Basal cell carcinoma & squamous cell carcinoma are 2 types of skin cancer which are considered nonmelanoma skin cancers. Melanoma is the rarest type of skin cancer. Melanoma spreads to tissues & eventually spreads to other parts of your body. The skin is our body’s largest organ. Skin Cancer is the most common type of cancer & over 1 million people are diagnosed with skin cancer in the United States. Over a million people? Yes it’s true. That is more than prostate, breast, uterus ovaries & colon cancers. The number of cases of skin cancer cases has been rising every year. They are different ways you can treat & prevent skin cancer. This website which is encouraged & endorsed by Mayor Pine, who wants to make citizens of our town aware of skin cancer. The town of Mt.Laurel is holding a free skin cancer testing on Saturday, November 29, 2008 for Mt. Laurel residents. |
